David Sharpe, 29, of Fairfield, who coached the team at Staples High School in Westport, was arrested Saturday on a court warrant charging him with public indecency and breach of peace, said Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras.
The incident was first reported to police on Oct. 23, by a resident who filed a complaint of a male exposing himself in his to a female pedestrian in the area of Old Post Road and South Benson Road, Kalamaras said.
“The victim, a juvenile, gave responding officers an accurate description of the suspect and the vehicle that he was driving,” Kalamaras said.
A follow-up investigation revealed Sharpe's identity, he added.
“It was later revealed that David Sharpe was a girls’ soccer coach for Staples High School, from which he resigned after his interview with detectives," Kalamaras said.
Sharpe was arrested on a warrant at Fairfield Police headquarters charging him with public indecency and breach of peace.
He was later released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Dec. 13.
Police said the case may be related to a similar incident that took place in Norwalk on Sept. 26.
Norwalk and Fairfield police are coordinating their investigations for the possibility of additional charges.
